The test panel was scaled to vehicle dimensions and 17 laser transponders installed to manufacturer’s specifications. Each transponder was targeted 9.12.3.6 o’clock and the resultant areas of protection noted. All tests were performed from 50m distance as the worse case scenario (the closer the gun, the more difficult to diffuse) – laser cameras are used in distances from 50 to 200m. Two popular laser guns were tripod mounted and each transponder was targeted twice with each gun and the results recorded. In total over 272 shots were "fired" at the transponders. An additional two units were considered for testing but persistent poor results cancelled those intentions. These were static tests, additional factors in real life such as ‘Lock-On, Jam to Gun, Off-Set’ and the position of the sun renders the laser gun – cam a formidable foe.
